ART ACTIVITY IS A THERAPY IN ITSELF



Yesterday I had been to my sister's place. Coincidently, there I met three generations together. The daughter and grand daughter of of my sister were enjoying painting various kinds of earthen items. All the items were so nice and elated me thinking my young age when I too was crazy to make rangoli, paiting, and art of nail and thread. My niece was very proudly telling her daughter about my interest in such arts. Our grand daughter was surprised to know all these as so far she thought me as an academician and counselor only. Ofcourse, the grand daughter is having degrees in fine art only and doing lacs times better than what I used to do.

Now a days Art Therapy is highly recommended by many psychologists and neuro- psychiatrists. My daughter Dr. Yukti is also pursuing the course of Art Therapy presently and feeling highly enthusiastic to observe its positive impact on human behaviour. Recently I read an article which states that 20 minutes ' art activity has impact equivalent to 8 hours sleep and doing art activity persistently can enhance life expectancy by 10 years. Any art activity is able to connect our senses and thus strengthens neural connections in the brain. Thus, art activity helps in keeping brain active and reduces risks of demential process with aging and also reduces the risk of suffering Alzhiemer disease. It also helps in reducing stress by regulating emotions efficiently and maintaining good mood in all circumstances. The scientist, Prof. Ross, at Paderson Brain Science Institute of John Hopkins School of Medicine says that if we are not able to make any art , even then incorporating very simple activities, like, dance, journaling, stitching, cooking or even visiting an art gallery and appreciating the arts presented, in our daily routine also help us similarly. Hence, now the time has come to realize that whatever the form of art we used to love during our childhood, is to be revised and relived.


So TRAIN YOUR MIND to remain in positive orientation of indulging in any art activity of your choice and performing on it persistently. I am sure you will witness a miraculous positive mind change in yourself. Be sure it will act as a therapy during your critical times.
