Recently one book entitled " NOT TOO LATE has been published and reported in TIMES , Newyork. The author is Ms. Gwendolyn Bounds, ex editor of Wall street Journal, who has developed insight observing a girl telling an old woman about the future plans. Since then she came out of her comfort zone and started exploring her potentiality in out of comfort zone activities and reached to her goals. It was not that she had not faced failures and genuine difficulties but she crossed over all those and reached to her goals. She says that we shall come out of our " auto pilot mode" while growing old. We need to develop mastery on difficult tasks to lead our life with enthusiastic mind state
and to avoid monotonous mind state . Failing this , we become anxious, depressed , and prone to risk of committing mistakes. When we stop pressing our brains to opt for difficult alternative escaping from doing uncomfortable tasks ,our creativity declines. Psychologists Carol Deweck also asserts that in such situations there are two words - TILL NOW - which are very helpful. The grading system of Chicago School also give grade like NOT YET insisted of FAIL. Similarly while selecting a difficult task of uncomfortable zone ,we can say ourselves as" I AM NOT .....TILL NOW. Surely it will stimulate our brains to opt tasks of difficult nature and thus our creativity will increase. I know I made myself a sufferer in the race of adopting new IT technology for better adaptation in modern world of technology. However ,there are so many difficult tasks I permitted myself to work on till success which I never thought of being able to do and that too during growing age ,for instance ,I came out of my mike phobia .
So TRAIN YOUR MIND to remain in positive orientation of adopting and mastering difficult tasks as you grow older. I am sure you will reach to shining goals.
Enjoy days always ahead in true love for mindful adoption of out of comfortable zone tasks and adapting with them.
