OVERTHINKING 😗 : AVOID STRUGGLING WITH THOUGHTS
In my clinic I have faced so many clients who have made their lives miserable because of indulging in overthinking on everything all the time to the extent of suffering insomnia and depression too. Irony is that this type of non-productive overthinking neither has any sound reason or problem to focus on nor leads to any fruitful solution. If we we need peace then we must stop fighting or struggling with our thoughts.
The cognitive and behavioural psychologists emphasize that we humans have control of three things in our lives. The first is thoughts we think, the second is images we visualize, and the third is the actions we take. In sum humans have control over all their internal and external cognitive behaviours, and external musculoskeletal behaviours. This good aspects of our own control clarify that overthinkig or struggling with own non-productive thoughts is avoidable easily being the task is within our own control only.
Overthinking is just like focusing on all bypassers while driving on the road. We can't reach to our destination if we indulge in looking at all bypassers whether going in the same direction or in the opposite direction, either on the left side or on the right side. Instead, we simply need to focus only on a few persons going just ahead of us or take care of the horns from backside to give them side to pass us. This focused attention wiill surely make us reach to our destination safely and that too very spontaneously. Similarly, so easy to control our thoughts, imaginations, and actions if we focus on them rightly. 🤗
So TRAIN YOUR MIND to remain in positive orientation of believing in your control on your own cognitve and noncognitive behaviours. Believe it you will never indulge in non-productive overthinking.
