Viewing working trends of long hours in corporate sectors in the present time , recently psychologists have focused their attention on the concept of RELAXATION ANXIETY . The inherent theme is about feeling of guilt of being not able to find time for self- relaxation while working strenuously for long hours almost everyday .The high suicide rates in professionals working in corporate organizations ,stressful family life , insomnia, and poor mental health specially depressive state of mind, work anxiety and fear of poor judgement by higher authorities and of being expelled out of the job etc. are causing true chaos in the life of these professionals. At times they plan going for a relaxation break but instead of enjoying and feeling relaxed so many of these professionals find themselves in guilt which further deteriorates their mental health. The guilt of not able to relax , to give quality full time to self and family members and guilt for self - blame of inability to produce un dully expected performance etc. pushing these unfortunate professionals towards relaxation anxiety and the irony is that if at all they plan to go for dreaded long vacation , it further complicates the situation and at the utter frustration of family members ,the professionals find themselves failure at both the fronts. Neuro - psychologists have observed that such professionals prefer to go for getting electric shocks insisted of going for vacation. The psychologists, alarming the professionals about this phenomenon, suggested them that if, due to any reasons , they are not able to afford long vacation, shall enjoy short moments of happiness with loved ones and as I said in one of my recent posts must devote whole of their hours to self-enhancement and passion activities and to enjoy loving family life at least on week days. Further , psychologists suggest that they shall select such moments in daily life during which there is higher chance of success in seeking relaxation i.e., while taking a shower , playing with children , family play time ,working in the home garden , walking through the Nature , sharing moments with friends etc.. These loving moments not only help such professionals to remain relaxed during hectic working hours but at their pleasant surprise they will be mentally well prepared to go for long vacation they and their families need truly.
So , if you are a professional or otherwise a workaholic , TRAIN YOUR MIND to remain in positive orientation of freeing yourself from any guilt of seeking relaxation. Try to make mindful work - life balance. I am sure you will enjoy a blissful life.
